17:30 – 21:00 on Monday 2nd September 2019

Victoria Gallery & Museum, Ashton Street, Liverpool, L69 3DR

This free event combines the Sixteenth Abercrombie Lecture, the opening reception for the 2019 Planning Research Conference and the presentations of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Awards for Research Excellence.

The Sixteenth Abercrombie Lecture, sponsored by Town Planning Review, is to be presented by Professor Bruce Stiftel of Georgia Tech School of City and Regional Planning. The title of Professor Stiftel’s lecture is Planners and the New Urban Agenda: Will we lead the agenda, or will the agenda lead us?.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception to open the 2019 Planning Research Conference, hosted by the University of Liverpool.

At the reception the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Awards for Research Excellence will be presented.

The lecture, reception and awards presentation are all free to attend.

The PRC (Planning Research Conference) 2019 is being hosted by the University of Liverpool. This year they have decided to include a session of the conference which is open to the public, to promote more interaction between academics, practicing planners and others.

The theme of the session is Communities, Planning and Education – it is part of a track of the same name at the conference. This session includes a mixture of planning academics and practicing planners, and is free to attend. The programme for the event including the date, time and location can be seen above.
