Darren Muir is a Chartered Town Planner working in a planning and design consultancy. He holds a Master of Town and Country Planning degree and a Master of Science degree in the design and construction of zero carbon buildings. He is based in Liverpool and leads on planning and design projects large and small across England, Scotland and Wales. He regularly provides strategies and guidance for public and private sector clients. Darren is also a member of the North West Regional Task Group for Planning Aid England and the Liverpool Ideas Forum.

Julian Jackson MRTPI
Freelance Planning Consultant Member of RTPI North West Planning Aid Task Group
Julian Jackson is a chartered town planner with nearly 40 years’ experience mostly in development plan making working for local authorities in Hertfordshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire. For 20 years Julian was the Planning Policy Manager at Chorley Borough Council and then from 2008 to 2012 he was lead coordinator for the joint Central Lancashire Core Strategy. Since then Julian has been a freelance planner advising on Neighbourhood and Local Plan preparation. He is also a Planning Aid volunteer and leads the RTPI North West Planning Aid Task Group.

Eddy Taylor, MRTPI
Planner and Urban Designer

Eddy Taylor is a chartered town planner and urban designer with 25 years’ experience in Planning and Urban Design with a strong interest in how communities can lead economic and urban regeneration. He’s been working in Neighbourhood Planning since 2013 in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.He currently runs PlanSpace, a North West based urban design and planning consultancy working throughout the UK but primarily in North West England and is a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council.

Dr John Sturzaker MRTPI
Discipline Lead for Planning, University of Liverpool
John Sturzaker is currently a Senior Lecturer in Civic Design at the University of Liverpool, after starting his career as a planning practitioner, working mainly in planning policy in North East England. He teaches modules on planning law, planning practice and neighbourhood planning, and is currently co-writing a book entitled Rescaling Urban Governance – Planning, Localism and Institutional Change.
